Babies’s first photos

Newborn photography is a rewarding and fulfilling genre that allows you to create lasting memories of your family.  Part of this is  creating a safe, comfortable environment, which gives us the best chance for a  successful session and beautiful images. Remember, patience and flexibility are key – every baby is different, and sometimes baby wants to cooperate and getting the perfect image is captured on the first shot, other times it might take us longer get it.

Keep in mind the best time frame for a session with a newborn is within the first two weeks of life. During this period, babies are more likely to sleep deeply and curl up naturally, making it easier to capture those adorable poses. As well they start to grow and change so quickly at this stage, we can miss out on capturing these early moments of their life. That’s not to say that outside these two weeks we can’t get the poses and looks we want, it just may a little more effort.

Another key element is the environment and the preparation before you arrive at the sessions. We will make sure the location is at a warm temp ( over 75 Degrees) to make sure baby is comfortable when we are doing shots where baby is not wrapped up. Setting up the lights and backdrops are also key, and all the wraps, blankets and outfits are something that I have a wide verity of that so we can pick out the perfect fit. Finally we want to feed the star of the photoshoot at the shoot so they fall asleep and are relaxed for our time together!

Making sure siblings feel included is a key part of making the session go smoothly. Big Sister or Brother always do better when they get to be part of it. Baby is getting so much attention, giving them something that’s focused on what they want to do at the shoot really draws them in as well.

About The Author

My passion for photography grew in the midst of exploring Oregon, capturing the beautiful landscapes,  in moments with my friends, and in taking photos as the explored with me.   My goal is to have my images speak to you-- for your story to be told, to be cherished, and to be remembered, leaving you with a collection of memories you will keep forever. For me, the only way to achieve this is by building honest, true connections by getting to know my clients and capturing the real life moments as we moved in between poses!
